Lovely spacious room, leading through french doors to our own very private terrace with a gorgeous aspect. The whole valley seems to wrap this little town in fluffy quiet towels and the peace and tranquility simply oozed into our severely overtaxed systems.
Our room was maintained to immaculate standards by courteous and flexible housekeeping staff. We much appreciated the fluffy towels, the daily weather forecast and evening sweeties which just made everything a little more homely.
The room facilities included satellite TV ( with only BBC World News in English?) music centre, air conditioning and safe but really should be enhanced with a proper full length mirror and a small fridge. Sadly during our visit the jacuzzi bath did not function at all, due to a broken mechanism. This was not explained to us on arrival leading a frustrating time trying to figure it out and disappointment that this lovely facility was not available to us ( nor reflected in the price!). Apparently, the hotel are awaiting parts from Germany to effect a repair and I only hope they do not have to wait too long!
There is a very steep hill from the public car park to the hotel entrance and it is not easy to get closer by car. It is really not suitable for anyone who has any mobility issues or heavy luggage. There is also no lift in the hotel so I think people with mobility problems might need to look elsewhere,
The gardens here are groomed to perfection, the pool is lovely with plentiful sun beds, shades and towels and the aspect is amazing. The broken safety rail into the pool at the shallow end looks as if it has been neglected for too long and just suggests further evidence of under investment or neglect in effecting speedy repairs.
Overall this place has the immediate air of a spa with great decor, funky internal presentation and discrete service (although bizarrely the background music changed from mainly spa to mainly euro rock during the week, which is not at all spa-like!!) During our stay most other guests were pleasant, multi-national, quiet natured and sophisticated but not snobby. Sadly, some did not respect the need for peaceable conduct and seemed to want to challenge the calm and peace of the pool area by being inappropriately noisy. Several children stayed there during our visit and all behaved better than these adults!! Still I guess you cannot put up a notice to say enjoy yourself....quietly!!!
We loved staying here and it helps that we are mature and experienced travellers who do not need a lot of pandering or fussing over; however there were several opportunities to delight and engage us as guests which were just entirely missing. The staff were never really off hand but certainly not engaging, there seemed to be little warmth in any service provided, no ambient welcome and no interest shown in our well being or level of satisfaction. The lovely hotel lobby and bar were always empty which is not surprising given the rather intimidating notices on the main doors which seek to exclude all but hotel guests.
The restaurant attached to the hotel has a fabulous aspect, provided us with great food at a competitive cost all made by one exceptional chef who has his lovely mum as his glamorous assistant. It is really sad that this facility is not well marketed by signage or proposition, and even the menu shown outside the hotel was a bit tatty. If I had not been staying there I would not have found nor visited this lovely place. There are several competing restaurants in Fornalutx and we were both sad that Ca'n Verdere is too discrete for its own good.
We will come back but we will return mainly for the love of the village, this extraordinarily beautiful and surprising slice of Mallorca. We hope that the owners and staff at Ca'n Verdere recognise the immense potential and value they should place on having a place in paradise and just work a tiny bit harder to ensure that we come to this hotel rather than to a competitor.
Room Tip: Room 10 is a Garden Room and delightful. There are much more expensive suites but we will always ask...

We very much enjoyed our stay at Ca'n Verdera. It is a small boutique hotel with a lovely feel. The pool area is very relaxing and comfortable. You see the glorious mountains and nature from there. The breakfast, from our point of view, was terrific. Every morning, you are served a delicious bread basket with breads, croissants and local sweet baked goods. These are complemented by butter, jams, cheese and ham and the best freshly squeezed orange juice in a big carafe. I never needed more, but I'm sure they'd serve you more, if you so desired. Oh, I almost forgot, a daily platter of fresh fruits, according to what was in season and available. Really good! There were also several cereal options, plain yogurt and so forth, but the above was more than sufficient for us. Every day, the wonderful Anna gave us suggestions of beaches to explore, or cultural sights, depending on your interests. We rented a car, and I think this is necessary if you wish to see anything much. The village itself is absolutely gorgeous. On Thursday evenings there is live music in the local place on the square, and it was really great. Majorca really surpassed my expectations and this is mostly down to where we stayed and the great reception and hospitality we enjoye at Ca'n Verdera. Highly recommended!

Hotel is full of character and nothing is too much trouble for the staff, great location. Breakfast whilst not out of this world was good with the nicest orange juice you will find in a hotel. Beds comfortable and quiet rooms with excellent bathrooms make for a great all round stay.
