Best mobile travel apps that will help you have the best possible holiday PART I

You are planning your holidays but feel stressed by all the information you want to find before deciding where to go, which route is better to get there, etc.

First of all you need to clam down… holidays are to relax and enjoy the journey 😉 That´s why we give you some tips about the best mobile travel apps that will help you along the way.

.

.

In this first part we will focus on the PRE-TRAVEL situation. Interesting apps to help you have everything organized and get you ready for your trip.

.

In case your destination is within the European Union, this first page has all the official tourism apps of many countries in Europe, in order to get the first information about their specific countries.

.

You just have to resend all your hotel confirmation e-mails, flight tickets etc. to a specific plans@tripit.com and it will magically generate a digital itinerary for you to have it in your mobile phone.

TripIt was awarded Best Travel Mobile App for 2011 at the Webby Awards. It’s not hard to see why.

.

.

This award-winning app is expensive (US$9.99) but it´s also worth it based on how practical it is.

It integrates with the previous app mentioned, TripIt, so you can track the status of your flight in real time.

Flight maps show your progress as well as the current weather. This makes it easy for you to know and let others know via email, Facebook or Twitter when exactly you will arrive.

Here´s a review if you want to know more about it:

  • Due. Travel organizer

This is for people who are always in a hurry or tend to forget things very easily.

With DUE you will receive reminders in order to don´t miss anything while you are in your destination. If you plan with time what you want to see, this app will help you to fulfil all your travel tasks.

.

It´s better than Apple´s regular calendar app, but you must know this one costs US$4.99.

.

This app is really important, specially if you either have a tendency to get sick or are a little hypochondriac.

It will provide medical resources in a number of cities around the world, in many of which is hard to find assistance in English.

Apps for each city cost US$0.99.

.

.

If your holiday is going to take your far away from home, you may need this app in order to not miss half of the time in your destination because your body doesn´t cope to the new timings fast enough.

It´s really worth spending a couple of dollars on this.

Once you specify all your flight information and sleep patterns, the app will tell you what actions you should make before, during and after the flight to minimize the jet lag effect.

.

.

You may want to have this app downloaded before you get to your destination. If you don´t know a word of the language it´s spoken in your destination this app will help you understand all the signs, posters and indications you will find there so you will be better informed of everything. (Can you imagine ordering food without knowing what exactly are you going to eat?)

Note that while the app is free to download, you’ll need to pay each new language pack you want.

See how it works:
