Planning your holidays?

If you are clear that your summer destination is ‘THE BEACH’, and you are even clearer that there is no question that your dog will travel with you, we have prepared a very special post for you and your faithful friend.

In close collaboration with our Boutique Hotels, we have prepared a guide to Mediterranean beaches at which our canine friends are welcome and where you will be able to stay without any problems. You won’t have to think any more about who to leave your pet with, nor will have to go through that anxiety or sadness of them not being with you. Above all A BIG NO, TO THE ABANDONMENT OF DOGS.

Stay at our Boutique Hotel El Racó de Madremanyá, located in the stunning medieval village of Empordà.

Only 30 minutes away by car (28km) you will be able to enjoy the specially prepared canine area at the playa de Els Griells, l’Estartit – Girona. It is a small stretch of 600 m2 that performs its function well. However, if it’s too small, a little further up the coast (20 km away) you can find the playa El Rec del Molí, l’Escala. It is a semi-urban beach of fine golden sand, half of its length has been specially prepared for people to go to with their dogs.

Stay at our Boutique Hotel El Jardín Vertical, in Vilafamés – Castellón. Its historic quarter has been declared a Place of Cultural Interest and it is also listed as one of the Most Beautiful Towns in Spain.

year-end deals el Jardín Vertical (Castellón / Spain)

The two nearest dog-friendly beaches are 40 minutes away by car. To the north is the playa de l’Estany, Alcocebre. Or to the south the playa de Belcaire, Moncófar, which has a specially prepared area open all year round. The beaches in this area are characterised by being made up of shingle and pebbles.

Stay at our Boutique Hotel El Secanet, in Algimia de Alfara. A small 3-bedroom hotel, where you are assured intimacy and wonderful gastronomy.

Only 30 minutes away by car (28km) is the playa de la Torreta-Santa Elvira, El Puig – Valencia, next to Barranc del Puig, its coastline is made up of stone, pebbles and sand. The best-known in this area is the dog-friendly beach in Alboraya, which is easily accessible by public transport as it is located in the city of Valencia, on the boundary of Port Sapalaya.

Here your pet will be able to play in the sand with its poochy pals, but unfortunately, the sea is not suitable for people to swim in.

On the beautiful turquoise blue island you will find our Boutique Hotels Jardí de Ses Bruixes (in Mahón) and Alcaufar Vell (in Sant Lluís).

The three dog-friendly beaches on the island of Menorca are very close together, in the south-west. On the one hand is the playa de Binigaus, the most visited. Easily accessible by car, this almost unspoilt , natural beach, offers  up crystalline waters and white sand. There is however limited access to the beach for pets which are only allowed access from 19:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m., so if you want to enjoy more freedom during the day, we recommend Cala Fustam and Cala Escorxada.

Both are difficult to get to so we recommend appropriate footwear. From the car-park at Binugaus it is a about a 50-minute walk, which can be a nice one to enjoy together with your dog. What you will find when you get there are several  small coves with blue waters and white sand. If you make the trip you may even have these idyllic spots all to yourselves!

Cala Fustam, Menorca

In the next post we will reveal other idyllic spots this time in the north of Spain, beaches to visit with your dog on the coast of the Cantabrian Sea.

Our charming hotels mentioned in this post are dog-friendly, you can tell them apart by the green pet-friendly symbol that appears in its section. Find out which hotels welcome dogs at Boutique Hotels Spain and travel with your best friend!
