El Molino de Alcuneza Hotel SPA is located just a few minutes from the historic and medieval town of Sigüenza. This characteristic building, which dates from the fourteenth century, offers comfortable and bright rooms with great views to the valley of the upper Henares River.

This charming boutique hotel offers a luxury service at only one hour’s drive from Madrid. A peaceful haven to escape from the daily routine and reconnect with your senses. A place where time means rest.

Enjoy a good book sitting by the fireplace, relax in the spa, stroll around the garden, take a bath in the pool or just listen to the silence, only broken by the birds’ chirping and a young Henares river that runs through the property.

The flour mill

Preserved tenancy agreements of the council of Sigüenza with the former entrepreneurs provide evidence that the mill dates from the fourteenth century.

In 1975 it stopped grinding and has since belonged to several owners, until 1994 when the Moreno family bought the place and restored the mill as a country hotel.
Over the years, the hotel was enlarged several times. However in 2007 it was the turn of the Flour Mill machinery to be restored, which started moving again after a thorough repair.
On request and before dinner, we’ll set the Mill in motion.

Restaurant
El Molino de Alcuneza Restaurant deserves a special mention. In the former milling room prevails the philosophy of ‘Slow Food’. Headed by Samuel Moreno, the Molino de Alcuneza cuisine returns to the origins but in a nod to modernity. We offer a ‘market’s cuisine’ based on local, meticulously prepared food.

We serve breakfast and dinner exclusively to our hotel guests, although we do offer also special services upon prior agreement.

Breakfast
Fresh orange juice and puréed seasonal fruit. Coffee and tea, home-made mini pastries. Kefir, natural curd made of fresh sheep’s milk or yogurt. Iberian charcuterie platter, 100% organic Santa Gadea goat cheese and tomato. Farmhouse, olive oil bread. Jams, artisan honey and extra virgin olive oil. You can also order eggs which we prepare according to your taste.

Dinner
Samuel Moreno, chef at El Molino de Alcuneza’s, elaborates every day a different menu with great personality where high quality local products merge with new cooking techniques in order to create what he calls a ‘traditional yet renovated cuisine’.

Our evening meals are menus and consist of starter, first course, second course (meat or fish) and dessert.

Bodega
Our guests can choose from a varied selection of different wines in our restaurant. In a nod to our region we serve delicious wines from the best Castille-La Mancha cellars, but also wines from Mediterranean cellars.

Wines with the body and character of well ripened grapes and a flavour of their homeland. Wines with the aromas of fruit compote, cocoa, broom, scrubland… Intense, structured and well-balanced wines.

You won’t find many classic wines on our wine list, nor known or advertised products, but a good number of wines that have been rated highly by critics. We offer you a carefully chosen list, with bottles that are quite hard to find because they come from small bodegas with limited production.

After this introduction we’d like to mention that our wine list is work of sommelier Blanca Moreno. She made a very personal selection of our region’s best wines, and a wine list in which each wine is accompanied by a label and a didactic explanation in order to make you enjoy every sip. And of course, accompany each bite until after dinner.

How to get there

From Madrid
Merge onto highway R2. Continue on highway A-2 until km 104 (you are now 30 km away from El Molino de Alcuneza). Take the turn to Siguenza (CM 1101 road). Drive through Siguenza towards Medinaceli. El Molino de Alcuneza is at approx. 5 km distance from Siguenza.

From Barcelona and Zaragoza
Merge onto highway A2 until km 150. Drive through Medinaceli (it is 18 km. away from El Molino de Alcuneza) and continue on the old N-II national road for 5 km then take the road toward Fuencaliente and Torralba del Pinar. From there take the road to Siguenza. After passing the 3rd village called Horna and before reaching Siguenza, at km 6, take the turn toward El Molino de Alcuneza.

From Valencia and Teruel
Merge onto highway A-23 or national road N-234 (they’re parallel) and continue until Monreal del Campo. Take exit 165 toward N-211/Madrid. Pass Molina de Aragon, then turn left onto C-114 and shortly after passing Alcolea del Pinar slight right onto CM-110 (28 km left to El Molino de Alcuneza). Follow signs to Siguenza. Drive through Siguenza following signs for Medinaceli (GU-127 road). El Molino de Alcuneza is at approx. 5 km distance from Siguenza.
