La Almunia del Valle is a small charming boutique hotel in Granada, certified with the “Q” mark for Tourist Quality.

The hotel is located in the municipality of Monachil – at only 8 km distance from the town center of Granada and the Alhambra and 18 km from the Sierra Nevada ski resort – a beautiful area which due to its high environmental interest is officially protected and conserved. For the visitor is a luxury to enjoy this natural setting, surrounded by high peaks and crossed by the river that gives name to the municipality, river Monachil, where light and silence claim their senses.

The owners themselves, José Manuel Plana and Patricia Merino, supervise personally each detail, and the professional and friendly staff does its best to turn your stay at La Almunia del Valle into an unforgettable and very pleasant experience.

The hotel was restored on the basis of a typical Granada-style country house respecting not only the traditional construction method of Sierra Nevada but also the surrounding environment. One of its main characteristics are the flat and walkable roofs. The terraced main building has different heights and is aligned with the rear hill, offering stunning views to the mountains.

How to get there

1a. From Malaga airport take A92 to Granada, 7 km before arriving at Granada, exit Santa Fe-Granada towards Granada-Sierra Nevada beltway.

1b. From Granada airport take the beltway (“Circunvalación”).

2. From the beltway take EXIT 132 to Ronda Sur – Alhambra – Sierra Nevada.

3. At Ronda Sur take EXIT 2 to Monachil. Continue on local road A4028, later  GR3202.

4. Follow signs to MONACHIL CASCO ANTIGUO (old part of Monchachil), on local road GR3202. When havind passed a residential area (Barrio de Monachil), pay attention and don’t leave the road, there is a sharp curve to the left that might confuse you (don’t turn right or you’ll enter the Barrio).

5. Continue on local road GR3202, until getting to Monachil. Upon arrival in the old part of Monachil (Casco Antiguo), follow signs to La Almunia del Valle. When leaving the town, turn right (the river is on your left). Our hotel is located at less than 1 kilometer’s distance from the town, on the CAMINO DE LA UMBRIA path. Warning: Even if the road is asphalted, it is still narrow. Wooden signs will show you the way to La Almunia del Valle.
