Cartajima is one of seven tiny villages in the untrampled Alto Genal Valley, part of the famed Serrania de Ronda. Only 14 km from bustling historic Ronda but Cartajima itself is a little lost in time, traditional and surrounded by stunning mountainscapes which you can enjoy from the gorgeous rooftop terrace. Quite a contrast! While you enjoy luxury and comfort inside, traditional old Spain awaits you outside.

Los Castaños is perfectly located for visiting the historic and romantic Andalucian cities or for simply relaxing and chilling out, with fabulous walking in a pristine paradise, soaring eagles overhead, and delicious food to come home to!

We have three superior rooms with mesmerising mountain views and a balcony to view them from.
Then we have the private retreat room which has its own entrance, a balcony, and the only room with a tub.
We have two double rooms, one with a balcony view over the flower-filled courtyard and the other on the ground floor which is wheelchair accessible and has views over the village to the mountains beyond.

How to get here

We are 90 minutes from Malaga airport. We will send you detailed driving directions when you make a reservation but your GPS or old-fashioned map will get you to Cartajima which lies to the south-west of Ronda. We suggest that you ring us when you turn off the A397 Ronda-San Pedro road and we will tell you where to meet us in the village so we can help you park.

Surroundings

Cartajima is one of seven little pueblos blancos (white mountain Andalucian villages) connected by walking paths and trails and with eagles soaring overhead. The valley, the Alto Genal, is rich with sweet chestnut trees which form the basis of the economic activity of the area. Very close to touristic Ronda with its wealth of monuments, restaurants, gastrotapas, and cultural activities. The Serrania de Ronda is in the middle of the famous pueblo blanco area and we can help you design a driving tour to visit some of these beautiful villages, each with its individual charm. The Mediterranean is but an hour´s drive away should you fancy a walk on the beach.
